Close up competition 2011 / 2012

Great success at this year's close up competition

Performing were a variety of club members displaying a wide range of magical disciplines: Tony Melvin, Tinkerbell, Damon Conlan, Paul Pickford, Craig Davies, Dean Brindley, Ricky Jackson and Ed Sumner.

The overall close-up winner was Paul Pickford performing an outstanding card manipulation act. Damon Conlan came away with the most original performance style with his unique delivery and the most original material award went to Craig Davies who has developed his act from conception to performance.

Sincere thanks to the many spectators who came along to watch; the club has been overwhelmed by the support and is constantly trying to find new ways to cram the ever increasing number of bodies in!

Special thanks to the judges; professional magicians Dave Jones and Stewart Milward (Stewart is the proprietor of the House of Magic, Stourbridge) and Adrian Brown a professional photographer.

2010 / 11 Desert Island magic

Congratulations to Jim Dickerson for winning the desert Island magic event, performing a a stunning routine which left all members clapping with well deserved respect and awe.

Turns out the Desert Island magic award is going to be a very serious competition next year. Get practicing fellas!

2010 / 11 Stage Competition

No, this is not a mistaken upload!

The stage competition trophy and the Harliquin award for comedy, for 2010 / 2011 have both been won by Craig Davies (pictured with Ian McGarva - ClubPresident-) Craig performed a very creative "Rocky The Mind Reading Raccoon" routine which had the spectators giggling and clapping along from their seats.

Well done to everyone who competed and special congratulations to Craig!

2010 / 11 Close up Competition

This year the close up competition was performed across 2 rooms with hosts Chris Congreaves and Paul Evans. Over 50 guests watched the competition as Craig Davies (pictured with Ian McGarva - ClubPresident-) won both the amature and main category with his ingenious "smashed and restored mobile phone to impossible location" routine.

Well done to all those who competed and congratulations Craig! The Bar has certainly been set high for he next competition.
