One of the key points when The South Staffordshire Society Of Magicians was formed, was that it is very important to get members up performing for their fellow magicians and laymen, with this in mind the 3SM holds 3 competitions a year, plus many other nights that encourage the performance of magic.

Pocket Tricks Drive The rules are simple, perform 1 effect, the contents of which must fit in your pocket, the evening works on a rotation format with everyone performing their effect to small groups, everyone who performs also judges and the scores are added up and averaged out. The winner receives a trophy. |

South Staffordshire Usually held around February, the close up competition is one of the many highlights of the 3SM's calendar, judged by 2 laymen and one magical judge, the winner receives a trophy to keep with the title 'South Staffordshire Close Up Magician Of The Year' and also 'The Christopher Congreave Shield' to hold for one year.
